Mining Training

Due to the affiliation with an Australian Training Organisation (Vertical Horizonz) and accreditation with the PNG National Training Council, the business is able to provide certified training courses for our people, including equipment operators and maintenance personnel, that meet the highest standards available.

Anitua Mining Services RTO Accreditation

AMS is now accredited with a Registered Training Organisation (RTO), Vertical Horizonz in Brisbane. Vertical Horizonz is in turn accredited by the Australian Skills Quality Authority (ASQA) to provide a range of nationally recognised training and assessment solutions relevant to the mining, construction, and transport industries.

What does this mean for AMS? Essentially, it means that AMS trainers will be able to run many more (RTO endorsed) courses on-site, such as:

  • 4X4 Driver Training
  • Defensive Driver Training
  • RIIRIS301B - Apply Risk Management Processes
  • RIIOHS301A - Conduct Safety & Health Investigations
  • RIICOM302A - Communicate Workplace Information
  • Forklift Training

These courses will be in addition to the following courses currently run by the AMS Training Department:

  • Confined Space Training
  • Working at Heights
  • JSA
  • Permit User and Permit Accepter

Overall, the new accreditation is a fantastic achievement for the Training Department and AMS as a whole. AMS Training Superintendent Paul MacMillan says, "it will mean more training, better training, and cheaper training... this in turn will result in more highly skilled and safer working employees." The relationship AMS has with RTO Vertical Horizonz and therefore ASQA is a obviously a great result for AMS, its staff and its clients.
